Andre S Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Can someone help me source an aftermarket one? Allparts.com doesn't seem to stock them again.
NeoConMan Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 No luck at AllParts? Roll the dice on Ebay. Might find a real one that you can afford.
Andre S Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 No luck at AllParts? Roll the dice on Ebay. Might find a real one that you can afford. and the worst part? I always knew at sometime I would have a SG, so I was going to buy one from allparts before this exact thing happened. But my parents told me it didn't make sense to buy a part for a guitar I didn't have as yet... Worst part.
GIANTRobOT420 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Take that money you'd spend on the tailpiece and save towards an SG.
yoda Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Can someone help me source an aftermarket one?Allparts.com doesn't seem to stock them again. Is this what you are looking for?
Andre S Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 Is this what you are looking for? I feel stupid. ... Thank You Yoda!!!! But its weird...when I checked under Gibson parts it didn't show up....hmmm
artmaker Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Gibson won't sell a new engraved Maestro tailpiece unless you send them the guitar and they install it. You may be able to find a plain one somewhere.

Someone here had sent their SG to have it installed, they filled the old holes and everything cost about $700 but compared to $150 for a non engraved one with the holes, I don't see the $700 worth it.
Andre S Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 I don't think an SG is the same without a Maestro...it adds qualities, tonally and cosmetically. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SG_LPbody3.jpg IMHO it wouldn't be an SG without.

ZenKen Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I'd want to go with the engraved, real Maestro just for the cosmetic value. If you're buying an aftermarket product you will be installing it yourself (or having a local luthier do it) so why not look for a real Maestro on ebay or one of the vintage parts sites on the internet? Last resort I'd have Gibson do it. I can't imagine my SG without the engraving.
