For all you guys who are scared of Bigsbys: I didn't drill a single hole or use a Vibramate ... and I couldn't be happier with it. It's fastened by the strap button, and string tension keeps it aligned. I flipped the tailpiece around because it liked to walk back off the studs. In hindsight, since I retained the tailpiece, I could have used a Bigsby without the tension bar but I don't mind having another flashy chunk of gold on this particular guitar. :-({|=

One thing y'all should note is the length/diameter of the strap button screw. The stock screw is too wide to pass through the Bigsby backplate, and the screws that come with the Bigsby are shorter than the stock screw -- too short to 'bite' -- so in addition to shimming the pilot hole with wooden matchsticks or toothpicks, you'll need a new screw (I used a brass 7 x 1.5" wood screw).

Hopefully this helps out people who are gun-shy about installing a Bigsby because of reluctance to drilling holes, or those who don't want to throw down extra cash on a cheater plate (aka Vibramate, etc.).

Whoa, the Bigsby was the gift. I just wanted to post the pix since people have been talking lately about slapping Bigsbys on their guitars, and Vibramates, and irrational reluctance to installing a Bigsby. Just thought I'd share an idea on how to make it happen without drilling or buying adapter kits.
