Tuning my SG Faded

Maybe this is a bit off topic for this forum section but here it goes....

 

I'm using an electronic tuner which uses 440Hz as the standard reference value for A. However I feel the strings are too tight so I'm wondering if I should use another frequency. I'm learning blues scales and solos. Is there any other reference I can use to play the blues?

You can practice the same scales and solos at whatever lower reference tone you want to tune at - if you're talking about loosening the strings for practice.

 

I always use 440 for tuning. It's standard. If you want to play along in tune with a recording or other musicians you'll need to go half steps (tones) either way from A (440) so you can transpose or capo into the right key.

Step down one gauge.

 

If you're using 10's, put 9's on it at your next string change.
