How to dress up a studio?

I just picked up New Ebony Studio w/Gold hardware, It plays and sounds phenomenal. However the look is lacking to be sure.

Any suggestions as to how to dress it up a bit?

P.S. Has anyone else had any experience with purchasing a Gibson from Best Buy? I got a screamer of a deal and the fellows there were really decent. Very pleased!

Congrats on the new Studio. [crying]

Dressing an Ebony Studio - maybe gold reflectors.

How about posting a couple pics?

Best Buy -

Yep, I've got a local with a musical instrument store inside. Bought three guitars out of there over the last year. Killer unadvertised deals. But you've got to check in person for the Gibby's, because Gibby won't let them advertise below their MAP, and they can't list their Gibby stock online.

Well' date=' they got Guitar Center beat all to hell anyway.

That's not exactly a compliment ya know...

Yeah, it will depend entirely on the store staff.

And Best Buy doesn't like stuff hanging on the wall for very long.

Glad you got a good guitar and a good deal!

New Gibson knobs that would compliment the hardware would look nice., but hang onto the original ones. I have always been one to keep guitars and amps as close to stock as possible. Most quality items that grow in value as they get older will lose some of their value if they are not stock. Congratulations on your new LP, enjoy.

I think she's beautiful just the way she is.

+1

I've never felt the desire to change the appearance of a guitar I've bought.

It looks cool just as it is!

Go buy a really nice strap for it!

Congrats - sweet guitar. Curious what you don't like about the stock look. I owned the same version a few years ago, and it looks pretty cool on stage. Well, at least, it did the two times that I got to play on stage with it.

Best Buy? Like, for real? That is freaking awesome.

Thanks for all your input! It's kinda funny, I took the pic yesterday and really didn't look at it until I tried to post it. When it's on my side all I see is black, but now after looking at it from the camera's perspective I'm thinking maybe leave well enough alone. Understated but sharp. Well thanks for letting me bounce that off you, and thanks BigKahune again for the suggestion of posting a pic.

I think that sounds like a wise decision. Now go and play that Les Paul!!!!

That's a beautiful guitar, I like that glossy black. If you're looking to throw some paint on there, but maintain the elegant simplicity of it, I think painting white trim around the front and back edge of the guitar is a classy look. Also, I'd lose the pickguard, they just clutter up the face. Maybe throw a metal (or gold-plated) truss rod cover on there, zazz up the headstock. Just some suggestions, but she's gorgeous, as is.

My vote goes for the reflector knobs, whether all Gold or the more subdued Black with Gold insert.

Speed knobs are utterly uncomfrotable to me, no ergonomics there.

If you want to get crazy and if you are into that an aftermarket Tortoise shell pickguard with a good pattern and number of plies would look great on that guitar.

It does look sharp as is, but I've always preferred the ebony finish with creme pickguard, pickup rings and switch selector ring.
