FirebirdV Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Greetings, I was going through one of my 3 million parts boxes when I came across a brand new bridge with saddles untouched and the matching stopbar tail piece. Now, I'm cleaning up my 2003 FBV and when I removed the bridge and tailpiece - there was no ID or any text on them at all. My NOS pieces were absolutely identical but for the bridge was stamped on the underside 'Made In' .. on the high side, 'Germany' .. on the low side. I remember acquiring these two pieces back in the late '70s whilst on the road in Toronto Canada. You road guys know what it's like ... nuthin' to do all day but spend the money you made the night before as you wait for the evening's gig to begin. I don't know about now but, back then in Canada, you worked the same club usually for 6 nights in a row. Anyway, I put these two older brand new pieces on my 'bird because it seems like almost everything was better back then. No tonal difference .. I was just upgrading worn out chrome or nickel or whatever that shiny finish is. Was Gibson getting their bridges made in Germany back then?
e/2 Explorer Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Gibson hardware was/is made by Schaller. Gibson does not have their own foundry for making hardware
