Shamus Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I have been contemplating adding a nearly new 58 VOS o the collection.Although I have also thought of looking at a new one but I can't find any quality pics of the Sunset colour. Although a 57 Goldtop wouldn't be bad either.Love to hear peoples thoughts on them. The nealy new is a faded Tobacco which is quite nice. ;)
cwness Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 It's a good idea to go used. Then you don't take such a hit $$$ wise when you walk out the door. I thinks the 57 and 58 are the best bang for the buck when it comes to reissue's CW
Tim Plains Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 What do you mean by Sunset, exactly - Washed Cherry? Here's some pics that show the colour well. http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/member-classifieds/88376-fs-new-2008-gibson-les-paul-historic-1958-vos-2599-a.html If you're willing to buy from the US, you can probably get a new one for around $3,000 CDN to your door. PM me, if you're interested.
eljay Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 funny you should ask! i bought a cherryburst r8 in febr. and loved it so much i went back and bought darkburst. i LOVE these guitars! good luck in your quest!
Shamus Posted May 1, 2010 Author Posted May 1, 2010 Thanks for the PICs they are beauitful. The guitar I was looking at was faded tobacco. The Ice Tea is also very nice.My current standard is heritage cherry. In my breif research I have read nothing but positive coments on the 58's. Although 57 Gold top would not be a bad addition. What surprises my is that the 57 Blackbeauty is not more popular. Is it the Pricepoint? (price is to high so people go to a 59 or 60 for the extra bucks) or is it the total mahogany body?:)
Shell Shock Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Hey there, I love my old one. It has a great tone! (I totally understand the love for a gold top! I have a '54 to die for!) Good luck with your efforts.
Benoit Trow Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Just picked her up and, unfortunately, can't play her as I'm traveling in South America, while she and the new Carr Mercury amp are stored in Chicago. Hopefully, on my next leg to the UK, she'll be with me AND, as beautiful as she is, she plays even better! Cheers, Trow
GuitarGuy503 Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 2010 Gibson 58 VOS in ebony that I got a few days ago...... :)
