Way to go Jamman.

She's gorgeous.

I don't see a lot of R0's.

I guess most people prefer the 59 neck. I love the 60's neck.

If you like yours half as much as I like mine, you'll be one very happy dude.

Thanks guys, for all the nice comments. Yea, swleary, if it was not for the wife , it would be home now. But i also wanted to see how some light would expose the figure.

So we let it hang in the store for a few days. I did put a deposit on it so, it's mine , just not living with me yet. I'm not trying to be mean about it (posting), i just couldn't wait.

Ya it is nice however, listening to the words of James Hetfield is not always a good idea lmao

"James do you have a drinking problem?" "yes I do, two arms and only one mouth "

I read in the first post that it would be coming home in a couple of weeks. Why can't you take it home now? Sit in a store window? You have incredible patience.

Your pics don't show the 50 on the neck.

We need more pics.

A real beauty.

I just finished playing my new R0 and find I appreciate it more every time I play it.

I was just playing along to some BB King with my left hand only and the sensivity and sustain is remarkable.

Enjoy!!!

I cann't take it home yet because of the Wife. I just bought a LP 50 Anni. 1/500 Darkburst, 3 weeks ago. last month i bought the PRS Santana. 25th Anni. That's some major money and i need to give her a rest. Right now i don't have much of a choice. Also when we opened the carton the guitar was very dark and i wanted to see if it would lighten up some . which it has. I'm not sure what you mean by "the 50 on the neck" ?It's the version 3 1960 1/500 reissue. I have seen the gold COA and opened the sealed Gibson carton, so it's all good as far as that. I post more pics when i get it home.

Also i do have a few Gibsons with the 60's slim tapper neck so i know how good it is. imho they are the best.

I totally understand your point now. That is some serious coin.

I thought all of the 50th anniversary limited run 1960 reissues had the 50 on the fretboard at around the 18th or 20 fret. Could easily be mistaken.

Lovely instrument, Jamman.

I love tops where nice grain is allied with nice figure.

I also prefer the slimmer necks on the R0's as compared to the R8's and R9's. I was lucky enough to have a shot of Flight 959's R9 the other week and was surprised by how much thicker it felt than my R0. I'd forgotten there was such a noticeable difference (I played lots of re-issues of all years when I was on the chase).

dleth , Glad you understand , I'm sure most of us with wifes have the same problem. It's difficult to explain to them (so they understand) that these guitars only come around once,

and for me at 54, i'll buy it . It's all good. cool man. enjoy that R0 and play the hell out of it.

pippy, R0 necks are great , but the R9's are also very nice. I like both of them. On this guitar the figure was very important. As this will be my last guitar for a while.

That's part of the reason i just didn't take it home.It needs to age a bit , so the true color and figure come out. Yeah, big difference in the necks, still they have different tonal quilitys

and thats part of the big picture. but if a had to choose, it would be the R0 slim tapper neck every time.

Even though I got my 50th R9 at a friend's employee cost, I still paid $4999 for it and my wife had a real problem with it until she saw it actually had my birthday month and year in the serial number and I turned 50 last year too.

Then somehow, she was willing to even pitch in some bucks on it.

Enjoy your new toy. It is bee-ute-tea-ful. And play it. Don't display it.

People come over and see me playing mine all the time and they like have panic attacks almost. You mean, you actually play that thing?

Um . . . yes! Just finished again as a matter of fact. [crying]

canon_mutant, Oh yeah, I play all of my guitars. none are for display. If i have time i'll play 3-5 in a day . i try and make at least 2-3 hours to practice everyday. And when this new one comes home it will get alot of time being played. Funny tonight , i was emailed some pics of some new R0's ,very nice tops and i showed the wife and all she said was "forget about it". It should be a fun night when this new one comes home. Post some pics of those guitars looks great.
