Um..........say what now ? .........the 61 reissue will have a blank TRC..........a Custom reissue may have Les Paul on the TRC.

The Les Paul name was carried over on the new "SG" body when it was introduced in 1961.

After a couple years, they dropped the name and called it the SG - for Solid Guitar. (Solid body)

The SG 61 Reissue that you see now isn't an exact copy of the original guitar.

It's really a model of its own.

Confused yet?

I'm a big fan of Gibson guitars and I know all of that. Lester Polfus had a contract until 1963 with Gibson that's why "Les Paul" disapeared from 1964. He didn't like the SG shape very much and when he signed a new contract with Gibson he didn't want to give his name to this guitar anymore.

As for Reissue '61, this is a "Made In USA" model but I talked about the Custom Shop model it means the "Standard Reissue Vintage Original Specification" model.

So I repeat the question : why "Les Paul" words are not present on every SG Standard V.O.S. model since this guitar represents the '62 model ?

Thanks all the same guys...

I've owned a couple, they both said Les Paul. I think if you find one that does not, its more likely just a fluke during assembly than a change in reissue specs. I bought one of the first Les Paul Traditional Pro's to ship and it came with a Classic truss cover when it clearly was not. But the Classic was just discontinued and they probably had plenty of leftovers to use, while the Traditional Pro was brand new and they didn't have enough. Typical Gibson silliness that doesn't always have a logical or deep explanation.

Here's my current SG.
