G McBride Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I just got a TV Yellow DC Les Paul Special with P90 pups. It is a great used LP and I love playing it. I ordered a couple of new straps from MF and when they arrived there was a flyer inside with a great deal on the new Nighthawk. I could not resist and ordered one. Anyone who does not know guitars will probably think it is a Les Paul due to the similar shape. Anyone else have one of these new Nighthawks?
BigKahune Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Congrats on yer two new guitars. Must be nice to throw loot around like that. Nighthawk - the bucker/p90 mix right? Can't help ya. How about a couple pics of your LP DC.
G McBride Posted May 2, 2010 Author Posted May 2, 2010 Yes, it is the Bucker/P90. I prefer to think of it as an investment not throwing loot around. When money pays less than 2% in the bank and seems to shrink in other types of investments, I think you should put your money into good guitars and good guns. They price of each tends to hold value or appreciate. I try to post some pictures this week of the LP DC.
G McBride Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Had a friend drop in yesterday and we picked for a while. He wanted to take the LP home with him. He really liked playing the P90's because of their clean sound. I have played the LP a lot and it is a fantastic guitar. I expect it will stay with me until a grandson talks me out of it, but they will have to be serious players before that happens. Nighthawk is a great guitar also. Good tones and very light weight. I see that they are offering a 2010 limited Les Paul with the same pick up arrangements and Robot tuning.
JThunderz Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 I like the DC Jrs.- especially the TVYs! (I am a huge Johhny Thunders fan..) Both pretty guitars- How does the Nighthawk sound? I've never picked one up. I'm not even sure I've seen one before- although I must have and just thought it was an LP.
G McBride Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 The Nighthawk sounds a lot like a Les Paul. It is about half the weight and the sustain is not as long but it is very adequate. With a P90 and a Burstbucker you have endless tone selection. I like it a lot. These are limited runs from 2009 and I have number 46 of 350 made.
BigKahune Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Nice lookin rig. The DC and Nighthhawk look sharp. Cool.
JThunderz Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 With a P90 and a Burstbucker you have endless tone selection. I like it a lot. That's actually the reason I bought a BFG over a LP standard- I love the p90 with the BB's! I didn't even know the Nighthawk had that set-up, I might have bought one of those instead... Oh well- I F-in love my BFG anyways! The Pup combo is as good as it gets, IMO.
JThunderz Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Actually, your nighthawk looks cooler than the ones on Ebay- I'm not a big fan of slanted PUps.. and a lot of the older models have mini HBers. Yours is way sweeter! And the top is beautiful, too!

There was also the Little Lucille, but I forget what features it had.
G McBride Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 My Nighthawk is the 2009 Limited Edition and it is a completely different guitar than the original Nighthawk. I guess the body shape is the same.
