Scott18 Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Hey, I'm curious if the blend pot in my '80 Maruader has both pickups at 50% in the middle, or if they are both 100% in the middle. I've just learned of the difference to watch for in blend pots. I've read reviews stating the pickups in the marauders were/are 'weak', I wonder if this could be the source of that claim. Sounds great to me, cranked, but definitely 'hotter' with the blend pot all the way one way or the other.
Marauder75 Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I've read reviews stating the pickups in the marauders were/are 'weak'' date=' I wonder if this could be the source of that claim.[/quote'] No, I don't think so. My 75 has the 3-way switch (same as SG or LP) and the pick ups are simply much weaker than other guitars I've played, but then again, that's one of the things I like about it. It's easier to add to it than it is to take away from it. Did you add covers to your pick ups or is this the way they came? Mine have the transparent epoxy.
L5Larry Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 There was a recent discussion on volume drop in dual pickup guitar wiring. I would think the blend pot functions the same as the selector switch in regards to "Ohm's Law". http://forums.gibson.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=34041 My technical explanation is post #7 of the above thread.
