gibson61 Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 my high e string has been sliding off the fretboard a little bit if i try a simple pull off and sometimes if im just using vibrato, and this concerns me because it is starting to make a groove in the binding on some areas of the neck. anything i can do?
Thundergod Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Can you post a pic of the fretboard (front), it can be a lot of things, probably something really easy to fix, probably not :- Take a pic of the guitar's front (fretboard, nut and bridge included) and post it than we'll be able to help.
yatyas Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Had the same problem with mine (2008 Standard , color? there's only one!!!) take it to a luthier , not just some guy who can adjust a truss rod. Told my guy the problem, same as yours, he removed the stock nut made me a new one out of bone, also moved the 1st. string nut slot in toward center of board, "just a couple 1000ths. of an inch he says" ya, o.k! could just barely almost tell he moved it anywhere, but haven't slid off the board since. Find your self someone good and you'll have a new best friend , but make sure there good or you'll get back a shoe box full of sawdust AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T BRING IT TWO A GUITAR CENTER !!
KL Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Had this same problem with a J-45 around 2001-2002 took it back and got a replacement as I had just purchased it brand new. However, the advice above is good and could be the solution.
tazzboy Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Yeah I was thinking the same thing too. That the Nut might need to be replace.
