ics1974 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 What is a good pickup height for the Explorer? I want to experiment with the height but I don't want to get too close to the pickups that is causes problems. I know these pickups are hot so is there a maxium height I should know of?

e/2 Explorer Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Bill Lawrence recommendations translate to two nickel (coin) widths under the low E and one under the high E when fretted
ics1974 Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 Gibson recommends the following...Pickup height: (measured by pressing down last fret) Rhythm=3/32” Bridge= 1/16” I guess my question is about Gibsons pickup height recommendations. Does this still apply for the Explorer as the pickups are allot stonger (ceramic). Will this measurment cause problems?
e/2 Explorer Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Bill Lawrence worked for Gibson remember? His recommendations should be a good guide. If you measure a 5 cent coin, the measurements you gave are pretty much identical. There are plenty of pups out there that are stronger then your 500T. The SD Invader, Dimarzio X2N and the origial Dirty Fingers Gibson's all are stronger
