ksdaddy Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 It's my understanding that SGs changed a lot around 1971. The horns were less sculpted, the neck/body joint changed, the neck angle changed, they had the wide headstock.... just a lot of things that made it "less of an SG". If a person tried it and liked it, then whatever the experts say doesn't mean squat, but if you can't have it in hand before you buy it, it might not be such a deal. A newer one, '85 or newer (give or take) would likely be a better one to seek out, as they were more like the 60s models. My two cents, worth exactly that.
