lince55 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I recently bought a Gibson 135 serial number 00723724. I think it´s a 2003 model. It has stoptail piece (No Trapeze) and humbucker pups. Comes in natural colour, satin finish an F holes. The humbuckers has chrome covers. I think are 57 classics. all 135 that I had seen before, had trapeze tailpiece. p 90 pups and chromite blocks This instruments seems to be acrossed model between a 135 and a 137. Cant it have the stoptail piece with the classic chromite block that comes in all 135 or it should have a mahogany block? If you have any knowledge about this 135 model, please give me some information. Thanks in advance and best regards. Please forgive my bad English. Lince Buenos Aires Argentina
Robin Nahum Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Hi Lince and welcome. I'm pretty sure that the later 135s had humbuckers and a stop tailpiece. If you search for more information on 135s on this site, I think you'll find a thread discussing the evolution of this model in some detail. RN
brundaddy Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 The 135 is one of the few Gibson models about which you could say, "anything goes," concerning factory specs. If it is REALLY light, then you know you have the chromite block. Or you can remove a pickup and have a look at the color of the wood. Also, if it has a mahogany block it will be about as heavy as a Les Paul. Mine has trapeze, 57 Classics, chromite (which I prefer), f holes, and no pickguard. I've even seen 135's with no f holes.
