I think it looks great. And it sounds more than great.

I like it .... I gotta admit , that one really stands out from the crowd without looking garish... still has that SG standard class with none of that Zoot Suit nausea effect.

Can I ask how much the mods set you back ?

Thanks guys. I first wanted a perloid white pickguard but the one I got did not fit - I guess there is a difference between SG custom and SG standard. Later I saw this one on e-bay and I ordered it. It fitted perfectly. I had to widen the bridge holes with a millimeter or so, but that's nothing really.

The cream ring - I just unscrewed the switch and the black one fell off, and I put the new one on. That's it.

The seymour duncans SH1 - bridge and neck pickups, alnico V magnets - great sound. It's fuller and richer - I like it better. The 498T had alot more mids and tended to go muddy with higher gain. No such thing with the SDs. They are just great. I think that lower output pickups with alnico V magnets are the best humbucker choice for SG.

Next thing I will try (soon I hope) - Bareknucles Mississippi Queen set for a P90's sound.

So the set back:

- 138 Euros for the pickups

- 15 Euros the pickguard

- 15 Euros the amber knobs (Gibson originals)

- 2.55 Euros the creme ring

- about 30 Euros for shipping

Total: 200.55 Euros - about 250 bucks (US)

All worth it! :P
