Artie Owl Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 No Joke, the number one most downloaded song of ALL TIME is by the Blackeyed Peas This is seriously depressing, and it makes me feel like we need to sound the horns and rally together and just start downloading ANY other song to oust this crap. if you don't want to read the article the short of the long is basically; I got a feeling - Blackeyed Peas has been downloaded over 5.5 MILLION times. It is now the most downloaded song ever, and I want to be sick right now.
ShredAstaire Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 The argument can be made that real music lovers buy vinyl or cd's?
MojoRedFoot Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I am proud to say I have never even heard the song. I am familiar with 2 or 3 of their songs. Does that make you feel better, owl? FTR...I find Fergie to be wicked unattractive
Artie Owl Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 It's not the format I'm concerned with, it's the rabid popularity of such mediocre talent.
ShredAstaire Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Not everyone listens to music the same way - for 5.5 Million people, it's probably background music....i doubt the sit and analyze it...some just want the vibe or the energy I think.... Remember, its called POP music for a reason - its what SELLS.
RichCI Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I'm a rock and roll fan but The Blackeyed Peas are a pretty good group and I like that song. "I got a feeling" is catchy and it's fun - two elements that are sorely missing in most current songs. It's certainly a better song than anything on the Them Crooked Vultures CD; great musicianship by TCV but ultimately fairly boring and repetitive songs. And Fergie is wicked hot! *drool*
ShredAstaire Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I'm with Mojo on the Fergie thing Rich....i can't look at her without thinking "is she a man?"
RichCI Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I like cause she's pretty dirty looking; there are technically much hotter women but Fergie looks like she'd be wild.
ShredAstaire Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I hear ya...maybe you find her sexy rather than hot? hehehe
ShredAstaire Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Well back to the topic at hand...i think i would be interesting to do a study of Pop music lovers to find out what is important in music to them...(Not to say all pop music is bad - i have my favs!)
RichCI Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 For me, no matter what kind of music it is, it's all about the song. If a song doesn't grab me in one way or another, I don't care how great the musicians are. Last night I was listening to Lenny Kravitz's "Mama Said" on the way home and every single song is a great one. During that period, Lenny felt that nobody else could capture the feelings of his songs and played every instrument himself. I gotta tell ya, I love Lenny but he should not be playing drums - GREAT songs and lots of groove though!
Artie Owl Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 Hey I totally agree that anyone can enjoy catchy music, good or otherwise. I always laugh out loud whenever I hear "WE BUILT THIS CITY, WE BUILT THIS CITY ON ROCK AND ROLLLLLLLLL" or you know, Blinded by the Light, but I guess I'm just upset that this particular song holds the distinction over all other songs digitally available as being the most downloaded.
ShredAstaire Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I'm the same Rich...if it doesn't hit me, it doesn't hit me...BUT I do listen to the instruments and pick out the bassline etc. Many of the average music listeners out there don't do that....they ONLY listen to the song as a whole... sometimes this is a great way to hear a song...but for me and many other people (a lot of them being musicians), you gotta hear the parts as well as the sum!
RichCI Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Absolutely. I'm just saying that the parts don't have to be technical but should be played proficiently. If you really want to drive yourself nuts, get into sound engineering. Not every recording has to be technically perfect (Black Flag's "Damaged" is awful from a technical standpoint but sounds incredible) but there is some stuff I have a very hard time listening to. INXS's Greatest Hits was so overcompressed during mastering that it actually pains me to try to listen to it; buying that CD was a complete waste of money for me.
ShredAstaire Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Agreed sir....100%....technical is good sometimes but it is most definitely not a requirement for me.
Jantha Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I gotta say.. I don't like that song at all! However, I do think the Black Eyed Peas have a few good songs.
jimmiJAMM Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Gotta admit they go great with ribs, cornbread and collard greens! Mmm-mmmm
dROK83 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 yeah, she does kinda have a busted face. that's probably what happens after smoking crystal meth for a few years. i think it's kinda funny that most people had no idea who the black eyed peas were until she joined the group.
LPguitarman Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I hate everything to do with the Blackeyed Peas. I agree with the mediocre talent comment posted earlier. Especially hate I'm a Be. I'm a be, I'm a be, I'm a be... a hot chick with a bunch of no talent bums. JMHO....
Big Bill Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Pass Thanks Mojo! I won't be rubbing one off to Fergie videos anymore' date=' you ruined it for me.
MojoRedFoot Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Thanks Mojo! I won't be rubbing one off to Fergie videos anymore' date=' you ruined it for me. [angry'] My work here is done.
