am I sick, or is this to be expected with such a fine instrument?

I've got a 61 reissue, which is just about cream of the crop without going custom shop....I also recently bought a faded special that I absolutely love, too. Now, I want the standard. What gives?

anybody else out there with this same problem. I've seen some of the pics and some nice collections on here, so I guess I'm not the only one.

My next guitar is either going to be a natural burst SG standard, or a 61 reissue. It's cool to want more guitars...

you know though,, I went through a stage where I bought LOTS of guitars, that was cool and I liked all of them, but now Im downsizing somewhat and really tuning into and getting to know just a few, I found that if you have to many that some of them sit and dont get used, I still like really getting to know just a few sweet players, of course having 2 sweet Strats and 2 sweet SG's is a pretty good arsenal !!

....and now to add to your GAS[biggrin]

I agree with this. I've got a couple of guitars that I rarely play anymore. I'm not ready to downsize them yet, though. I wonder how much I could really play 3 sg's? Maybe I'll find out![biggrin]

I know what you mean, I got over 20 guitars as it is. I picked up a mint 2007 '61 reissue, still has the plastic and gold sticker on the pickguard as well as all the warranty info and manual, for a real good deal. That guitar stays in the case. I like playing it but like my 95 SG standard even more. Picked it up for only $400 on the used want ads. It had a cracked headstock, easily fixed by injecting CA glue into the crack and clamping, rock solid now. Its also a natural relic, got a big bare patch on the back (buckle rash) and numerous, scratches, dings 'n dents, but otherwise all original and unmolested. But I have to admit, I've never encountered a straighter neck on ANY guitar before. This thing is a dream to play!

My 3rd SG is one I made myself. I call it the "Master of Reality" its painted with similar colors to the Black Sabbath album cover. All Honduras mahogany with a deep set neck encased inside the 2 body halves. Golden Age overwound humbuckers, 24 frets, Grovers, 1 vol. 1 tone , plugin at the straplock button and the action is right on the deck, very fast. :)

..............Oh you have to have a Standard if you like SG's...........

....I have 3 models now because of that. Back Years ago I bought a Special ...ebony even though I could

have afforded a Standard.......I just thought hey I am not a proffesional I maybe should just get the Special.

Well I went back to Mars music a month later and said yo how much yall give me toward that ebony Standard.

They said hey this Special still looks good we will give you $500 of the $600 you spent on it. I said thank you and ring on up that Standard...............it was stolen from me about a year later........and I went through some tough times...

........I got a G-400..........then a new Raw Power and finally another ebony SG Standard..............and it is the best !

Man, I love SGs. It is my favorite guitar. I love my Sheraton and my Taylor, but I don't get the same magical feeling that I do when I strap on my SG. Fits like a custom made suit.

Been pining for years for an SG with P90s. Should have bought it before I got married and bought a house.

you know, a few years ago, I played a Pete Townsend signature SG at Sam Ash Music with P90's and absolutely LOVED that guitar !! I didnt buy it at that moment, I DID go back the next day to buy it because to me it felt like " a Keeper" you know how it is when you just connect to a guitar,, well the guitar was sold !! I was majorly bummed !! That would have been a smoking guitar !!

I went into Long and McQuades back in 98 and almost bought an original cherry 68 SG. At the time I wasn't sure what I wanted, was actually just there for some strings! The back of the 68 was really badly scratched up (sacriledge!) and I wasn't used to playing such a shallow neck. The guitar was selling for $900 Cdn. Anyway, I passed and opted for an 88 American Std. strat for $600 after taxes. I don't regret buying the strat and still have it but I sort of regret not following thru on the SG.

The next sg i'm going to get will be a white raw power. I played it in a store and fell in love with it! though it won't ever replace my current sg [biggrin]

I am really jonesing to buy a white double neck SG. Not JUST beacuse of Page. But the look of the guitar has always captivated me soo much. I am considering the Epi version of it. Its all hand made in Tenn. It just looks so fun to play I love a 12 string sound!

You might want to do some research on the Epi Double neck' date=' I am pretty sure they are made of plywood, and I know they're NOT made in Nashville[-( From what i've heard, alot of people that own them arn't too pleased with them. Not trying to be an a**, just trying to help[biggrin']
