bc45lespaul Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 How often would you think I should change my strings and what strings should I use for a les paul???? I play at least an hour a day....:D
Flight959 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Change them when they start sounding dull or you have tuning problems.. I go for the full fret polish and condition the fretboard when I change my strings so I dont change them too often... I love the feel of new strings but I hate that tin sound.... I'd say once a month for you.... IMO Regards
pippy Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 As far as what strings you should use go for pure nickel ones. The fret-wire on Gibsons is, relatively speaking, quite soft and regular steel strings will wear out your frets much quicker.
CaptainNemo68 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 One hour a day - I'd say change them every three to four weeks. I use Dean Markley's .... 10's or 11's
mwink822 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I change strings about every three weeks (so effectively once a month), as far as what strings to use, I've been using Dean Markley Blue Steel for years now and find them to be great strings. On my Les Pauls I use .10-.46 Blue Steels, on my PRS it's .08-.38 Blue Steel and on my Ibanez it's .09-.42 Blue Steel. If Blue Steel is not available at my local shop for one reason or another I'll go for DR Tite Fits in the appropriate gauge.
Brodie Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys, change them once a month. $7 a month on strings = a guitar that sounds like a million $. don't be cheap, your ears deserve it.
