I'd say real...have to see what others think too..they are the real experts

 

I'd get the serial number and call Gibson customer service to verify it though,.

Looks real as they get to my untrained eye, too, though. The case def. looks real (and old!). Plus I guess one (of MANY) ways to check is to see if the headstock is made from three pieces of wood- which this one is.

Gotta ask...has anyone seen a faked Norlin before?

 

Seems to me it's a lot easier and cheaper for the (word removed for decency's sake) to stick to making copies of new guitars.

The Jap LP's built in the '70s!

 

No; of course you are quite correct. All the fake LP's we've seen (as far as I can recall) have been modern-style.

 

Even the Jap copies from the '70s were closer to the original 'bursts in shape than the Norlin type.

Real.

 

All is proper and correct (except the speed knobs) for a 1976 LP Custom, including serial number decal, serial number, and case.

I think I see a pancake line - a two piece, which is okay with Norlin 70s. [biggrin]
