ics1974 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 This just went for sale in my area but I need to know if it a fake. http://s986.photobucket.com/albums/ae350/jylh/1976%20Gibson%20Les%20Paul%20Custom%20Wine%20Red%20Vintage%20Elect/ Thanks
swleary Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 I'd say real...have to see what others think too..they are the real experts I'd get the serial number and call Gibson customer service to verify it though,.
JThunderz Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 I'd get the serial number and call Gibson customer service to verify it though' date='.[/quote'] +1 Looks real as they get to my untrained eye, too, though. The case def. looks real (and old!). Plus I guess one (of MANY) ways to check is to see if the headstock is made from three pieces of wood- which this one is.
93DMTX Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Gotta ask...has anyone seen a faked Norlin before? Seems to me it's a lot easier and cheaper for the (word removed for decency's sake) to stick to making copies of new guitars.
pippy Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Gotta ask...has anyone seen a faked Norlin before?. The Jap LP's built in the '70s! No; of course you are quite correct. All the fake LP's we've seen (as far as I can recall) have been modern-style. Even the Jap copies from the '70s were closer to the original 'bursts in shape than the Norlin type.
L5Larry Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Real. All is proper and correct (except the speed knobs) for a 1976 LP Custom, including serial number decal, serial number, and case.
