Most memorable concert?

Sure we've all been to so many but is there one show in particular that really stands out?

The Police with The Animals and The Fixx, Orange Bowl, Florida. October 28, 1983.

Sort of a sentimental favorite. My older brother and I caught this concert back in the day. The Police were on their Synchronicity tour and Sting was in his prime. The Fixx were just great, such an 80's band in every sense of the word. Eric Burdon singing House of the Rising Sun and We gota Get Outta this Place live was monumental.

Depends...as far as line up? Days of the New, Jerry Cantrell, and Metallica back in June 1998. Pagan Fest was pretty awesome seeing Turisas, Týr, Eluvietie, and Ensiferum in 2008. Last Monday (4/26/10) was great because I saw Týr (probably my 2nd favorite band) for the 4th time and got to hang out with them for about an hour after the set. Had drinks n stuff. I will never forget that.

Favorite for me means, the most memorable...and that was Led Zeppelin back in June, 1980!(2 months before John Bonham died...)

Best live performances: The Black Crowes(1995), The Tragically Hip(1990), Lenny Kravitz(1998), Chris Isaack(2008), John Hiatt(2006), Rollins band (2000)

I took my son to his first concert in Atlantic City to see Robert Plant. We had the worse seats in the house, the very last row. I guess the ushers felt sorry for us and moved us to some empty seats in second row from the stage. I was so excited that I flash my boobs at Robert.

I tried that with Mark Lindsay once.... he barely gave me a second look!

Hmmm. I can't pick one...

'98 or '99, Pittsburgh, Starlake Amphitheater (It's the Post Gazette Pavilion now). Slayer was playing on Ozzfest. That summer happened to be the summer for the 17 year locusts to emerge. During Slayer's set there were swarms of locusts flying over the crowd. Conjuring biblical plagues is pretty metal...

1994, Pittsburgh, City Limits. Sepultura, Fear Factory, Fudge Tunnel, Clutch. That was the first time I saw Clutch. They were awesome (they were touring for Transnational Speedway League). After the show, my friends and I hung out and met Sepultura. The whole band signed my flyer for the show. I still have it.

Also any of the times I saw The Jesus Lizard, Rocket From The Crypt, or Iron Maiden are my most memorable concerts.

You always got the trump card don't ya DR.

Well you know what Muhammad Ali used to say, "It ain't braggin' if you can do it."

I mentioned in here before, not only did I attend it, we were actually on the bill 'til the SF Musician's Union complained. We we in Local 510 out of San Leandro, and the concert was in Local 6 out of SF.

Here's an interview with our manager where he talks about it, if you're interested:

BB King at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. It was fantastic. [blink]

I saw his nephew out on this outside are where I was getting some fresh air. I didnt know it was his nephew at the time but it was cool. I distinctly remember seeing him play a C chord so HAH! It was fantastic. His tone is probably my favorite clean tone.

I dont know if any of you have been there but look at the list of artists who've played there. There are some pretty damn good names on the list.

Couple years ago made a trek to Chicago with my cousin to see Stone Temple Pilots at the Chapter One Pavilion. It's on Lake Michigan and it was freezing cold. 90 degrees in kansas and it was in the 60's during the daytime there (we overlooked that and showed up in t shirts and shorts). Amazing concert, Dean Deleo's amp caught fire mid set (pretty large gouts of flame!). They donated most of the money on that tour to local music programs in schools and even had a local marching band open for them. Was about 4 back center stage (standing room in front of the stage), had some big girls rubbing up on me the whole time but they made good wind blocks!

I have seen lots of memorable gigs, but October 1980 and Nov 1981 Ozzy Osbourne in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, (UK) with Randy Rhoads were outstanding gigs.... as was Black Sabbath in January '81 at the same venue. On a different wavelength altogether, Killing Joke were always frantic and manic with amazing energy - saw them too many times to list in the early 80s.

Sonic Youth was the best show that's for sure.

I'm not sure which was really the most memorable. I've been to many. My memory of most of them is a little hazy.

I'm going to see Les Savy Fav tommorow. Should be pretty awesome.

In fact, I was a lucky kid...started going to see gigs in 1980 when I was 12. In a year I saw Black Sabbath, Ozzy with Randy, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Saxon, Ian Gillan, and Girlschool, all with support bands of lesser repute...happy times for a kid into heay rock...
