bluesrob Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Just got my es 339. The truss rod cover is blank, and I noticed in some images from Gibson there was the number 339 in script on it. Is the blank truss rod cover standard? Are there any variations?
maller Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Mine's plain. Ditto. I don't think I've seen one with anything on it.
weeladdie Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Plain on mine too. I've been thinking of going to a trophy shop and getting them to engrave "Gibson" or "ES-339" on it.
colski Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Mine's plain too... although I've toyed with the idea of engraving it with 335, to fool people into thinking I'm a giant.
TheGibsonGuy Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Plain on mine too. I've been thinking of going to a trophy shop and getting them to engrave "Gibson" or "ES-339" on it. It is replaceable, so customizing it isn't a bad idea. You could always switch back the the stock one if (God forbid) you get rid of it. Are replacement truss rod covers for an ES-339 easy/cheap to find? BTW - I think 'weeladdie' would be much better for an engraving...
