I play Metallica, ozzy osbourne, steve vai, satch, guns n roses, dire straits, iron maiden and pink floyd, i think its all lol; and im confused about what guitar is better for me... They're almost the same price. Put yourselves on my place and think what guitar would you get. Thx a lot guys! :-
NeoConMan
I think you need to look again at all the various guitars used by the bands you cite. One guitar won't cover it all - two guitars would not even come close. Get whatever ESP is needed to play Metallica, leads will require a guitar with a Floyd Rose or such. Lotsa variations with Ozzy, depends on which guitar player you prefer. Steve Vai & Satch will require a Floyd Rose and some effects. A Les Paul will work for Guns n Roses. Gonna need a good Stratocaster for Dire Straits, - same for Pink Floyd. Iron Maiden did a lot of songs, Strats figure prominantly in many of them. I'm confused about where you want to start. You'll need to decide what guitar is better to start off with, play it, and then decide what's next... If I put myself in your place, I think I would get four guitars to cover those bands. Les Paul Custom Jackson V, or something similar with a Floyd Rose American Standard Strat Another used American Strat to mod with hot humbuckers. Looking at about $8,000 to get good stuff. They're nowhere near the same price. You can spend anywhere from $200 to $4500 on a tremolo-equipped guitar. Les Paul copies start in the same area, while a Custom is over $3k and a Pearly Gates is well into 5 figures. American Strat is $1k, where a Squire can be bought used for less than $100. BigKahune
For the most of the music you mention, the LP is not a good choice unless you want dish major bucks on a LP Axcess with a Floyd and taps. The Satriani sig is a pretty good choice - double locking trem, buckers, coil taps.

Like BigKahune said, with the features it has, it can cover most of what you're into.
bucketbot
I would also consider a Jem which will probably cover more of the bases you mentioned than either of your choices?

LPNuts
Probably go with Ibanez on this one. I've found the JS model pretty versatile
