What is a M69 pickup ring?

From what I read ' date=' they are an exact reproduction of the original rings...[/quote']

Actually, the were the original pickup rings.

There are, of course, modern reproductions but usually when someone talks about an M69 they mean an original '57-'60 ring.

As these can get damaged/replaced/broken fairly easily real ones change hands for stupid sums of money.

But then again so do the instruments they come from!

Yea, LPF has some hardcore members for sure, a lot of knowledge over there but sometimes too much.

I loved the post of fading guitars, the scientific explanation of that dude is incredible. I enjoyed that.

Yeah, what's the word I'm looking for?

Esoteric?

Obscure?

Arcane?

Hmmmm....

Yeah, some of those guys can really get out there on a tangent.

I've seen from pretty far-fetched claims, swearing about the tonal effects of some pretty mundane stuff.

Damping effects of different materials for the shirt(s) you're wearing.

Sitting or standing while playing.

Color of the string ball ends, etc.

(Okay, I made that last one up just to mess with people....)

Just for kicks, I consulted my handy thesaurus to what else pops up to describe that concept of logic;

Inscrutable

Vacuous

Inane

Innocuous

Unfathomable

Enigmatic

Incomprehensible
