Drdamski
What an amazing piece of kit - if only I could get it to work! Initially my problems were battery related, but having had a new battery installed I'm hoping it will at least hold and take new charge. Now I'm noticing how difficult it is to set the intonation. So far, I just can't trust this. And most of all, I'm disappointed by the fact that the tuning is not wholly accurate. I'm seeing that the low E string particularly, is consistently tuning itself sharp without exception. Often the A string is the same. Also the G and B strings intermittently have the same issues. I understand that there is an upgrade available, but surely this was never actually deemed acceptable at the time the guitar was first sold? Any help gratefully received! Cheers! stoz
You're right. I also think its an under-developed product. The tuning is slow and inaccurate, unless you turn the accuracy up, in which case it is so slow you might as well just do it manually. I found its best to ignore the stringing-up instructions in the manual and leave no winding whatsoever on the tuning peg. Just pull it tight by hand and lock it with no turns, then let it string up automatically. I snapped a string on a sharp edge doing it this way, but took a small piece of emery to the offending peg (which was also quite annoying on a £1300 guitar). I'm looking forward to the upgrade, although I don't know what it will cost. The tuning gubbins on the darkfire seem to be way better in every respect. The Gibson site says the upgrade was in prototype back in December 09. No news since then. http://www2.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/Blogs/Gibson-USA-Blog/December-2009/Robot-and-Dark-Fire-Guitars.aspx I have been underwhelmed so far. Falken
I find the intonation on the guitar useless. If you try to intonate it, it could first say: "5 half turns clockwise" and without changing anything and doing the same thing again on the same string it could say "3 half turns counter-clockwise".. I've tried to use it a lot in the beginning but now I use a tuner and do it by myself instead.

I would gladly buy another for stage if they could tune in 2-3 secs instead of 12 secs. Not to worry, I have a good feeling about 2012 being the year everything happens.. The Mayans said its a new beginning. That's got to be good right? Planet X will bring us good luck by lowering our real estate taxes, and when the Magnetic Poles shift the sun flares will cook and clean everything for free. Oh and the Robot Generation 2 Updates and spare parts, will be available for any buyer. new or old. Shipping starts Dec 21, 2012 ,,, Just in time for Christmas. But some people call me a optimist. :-O
