Just bought a Gibson Les Paul Studio worn gold top with p90's

Fantastic guitar. Just built end of April and my guitar store recieved some last weekend. It's supposed to be worn but it's not very worn at all. It's a gold top with the traditional knobs with metal pointers. Has creme pickguard and creme p90 soapbar pu's. Has light colored mahogany back and neck. It's a satin type nitro finish on the back and neck and a satin laquer finish gold top. It's a studio so no binding but the edge of the maple cap has a light finish so it looks like a binding. All for just over $800.00. The P90's sound great....

I set it up with 10's and it came in to a very nice Les Paul action.

I think this guitar is a bargain so grab one if you can find it. I was told they made 1000 of them.... don't know for sure. I didn't see it listed at the Gibson site. Came with a gig bag but who cares...still a bargain.

Anybody know where I could find a reasonably priced LP case with the Gibson logo on it?

Thanks

I looked it up on yahoo and found a pic. I think I am getting jealous. It's probably the nicest looking studio I have seen yet. So tell us how does it sound?

All the sites that I saw that had the 50s Tribute Studio listed were in Europe. And one of the sites did not say it was limited to 1000 but that it was limited to 150 of each color. hmm?

My local shop got a few of these in last week: a Gold top, an Ebony, a Burst & a Honey Burst looking thing...I ALMOST bought the Honey burst - it was really nice looking. They put a little wear in the finish on the edges around the top, and some scratches on the pick guard to give it a more vintage look. They also have translucent covers on the back and 'old time wiring' with Orange Drop capacitors.

While thrilled with the price (asking $779), the bridge & bridge PU were REALLY high, so I ended up passing. And the gold top, a looker too, had an obvious surface flaw (a wavy section in the top wood near the horn).

No. You scrolled right past it.

We were given a sneak peak of several very exciting new models. I can't give away much detail yet' date=' but I'll give you a hint: what's handmade in the US and will sell for less than $1000? You'll find out next mont[/b']h!

Ah . . .

I see, the maple cap is showing on the side, right?

Looked like binding and it doesn't appear to have a "worn" finish so I went right by it.

Nice. Very nice. Really cool look.

I see Laaz has a link in the UK.

Oh, it's a limited run.

Are they for sale in the US yet?

BTW, congrats. Very cool snag. [biggrin]

Ahh - that's them! (they are available in the US). I didn't notice the White in Alto Music, but that Honey between the white & black is really sweet in person! Maybe that color just works the best with the cream accents - the workers in the store liked that one alot also.

They should just leave 'em new looking and not put 'wear' on them - it isn't much at all anyway, and its not needed with the satin finish...just makes 'em look...used. I would probably find myself trying to 'fix it'. :)

The gold was cool, the burst was OK, the black - eh. I may have to go back now...

I thought the black one would be a good starting point for a poor man's OLD BLACK

I just picked up a Honeyburst the other day. It's a hell of a lot of guitar for $700!! I had been flip flopping between picking up an LP standard and a Firebird; the shop that ordered the firebird for me to try out still hadn't gotten it after a month's wait and they had a few of these new studios in stock; one honeyburst and two goldtops. All 3 were gorgeous and didn't actually look worn other than around the edge of the maple cap which, as mentioned, actually gives the illusion of binding at first glance. I was in the market to shell out well over 3 times this much and I've gotta say, I LOVE this guitar. I picked it up on Saturday and have already put in about 6 hours on it; very inspiring instrument.
