rchgck
Just called Fuller's. They have two Radio Grande's, newer post 1994 but no Stage Deluxe's. This is what I am looking for. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://homepage.mac.com/cybercat/.Pictures/Acoustics/IMG_0551.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php%3Ft%3D128516%26page%3D2&usg=__QfmKFNyPBJS98KN8ZSZ24-HTxVQ=&h=547&w=588&sz=370&hl=en&start=6&sig2=oLmDo_3tbPbn1A_um6wXqA&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=zF97xgF2oGMXjM:&tbnh=126&tbnw=135&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dstage%2Bdeluxe%2Breissue%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26channel%3Ds%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=31fsS9XjEIKdlgeStKi0CA If anyone knows of one of the newer Stage Deluxe's for sale please drop me a line. rchgck@yahoo.com Thanks,
rar
I don't think there are a lot of reissues out there, just the 100 built for the centennial in '94 and however many have been ordered from the custom shop since. You might want to ask Fullers, or some other dealer, for a quote rather than waiting to stumble upon one. -- Bob R

onewilyfool
I thought all Roy Smeck's had a sunburst. Is this one refinished?
modoc_333
dont' you love EBay? the guy uses huge CAPS letters to say "NO ISSUES" then immediately tell you about the replaced parts and the repairs. lol. those are issues buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TM
I thought all Roy Smeck's had a sunburst. Is this one refinished? No, it the original finish. As the seller says, very few of these were built with rosewood body. They also made them in sunburst and it is a very strikingly different sunburst. From the number this is a very early one. jt
I played this very guitar a few days ago. The natural finish (as on all Radio Grandes) is original. This is as fine a guitar as I have ever laid my eyes/hands/ears on. Alas, it belongs to a friend.
sumner77
John, at least you were able to play it. Can you describe the tone?
jt
John' date=' at least you were able to play it. Can you describe the tone? [/quote'] Summer, I've played about half a dozen original Gibson Smecks. I'd describe the tone as pre-war Gibson slope dread plus additional bass/warmth. Great for some stuff, overwhelming bass for other stuff. On balance ..., I wish that I owned one.
