yakbass
I have an '01 LPPP that has a cracked Bridge ring when I got it last month. I am going to have it replaced but need some information. I had settleed on a set of curved bottom creams, but happened on a description of the Gibson Historic rings. As they are taller than standard rings, would there be complications if I decided to use them instead? Thanks, Mike
cherrylester
Yes, the historics are taller than std rings. The bridge is very noticeable in height increase, the neck isn't very noticeable. I put the historics on my '02 premium plus les paul std and think it looks much better. After seeing all the custom shop reissue guitars, I realized I did not like the way my bridge pickup stuck out above the ring so much. They fit right on , no problem. pippy
There shouldn't be any problem.
GibsonLP1960V3
One thing to consider about the taller Historic rings... if you like super-low action, then the taller ring could interfere. In other words if you lower the action too much, the strings will touch the ring when you fret a note higher up on the neck. You could work around that by sanding down the bottom of the ring a little.
