zico10 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I have amongst others a Stripey Les Paul Standard For a different sound I have retrofitted Bareknuckle pickups - a Riff Raff in the bridge and a Mule in the neck - fantastic sounds But I ordered them with 4 conductor wire and had a push pull switch fitted in the rhythm tone position so I now have a single coil option on a Les Paul - cost was bugger all so if Gibson put one on all les Pauls their costs would be minimal and turns a fantastic guitar into an even better one I am not suggesting boutique pickups just a wiring mod to Gibson standard p/ups - BUT - if you have not tried the standard PRS 250sc p/ups then do so -awesome and I have a set on order for my SG Gibson need to be aware of the sales they are losing to PRS at least here in the UK as the PRS has this option and of course their QC is way ahead of Gibson In the UK a PRS Custom is only a couple of hundred pounds more than a LP standard and actually cost less than a Gibson Custom shop guitar All the best Zico .

Maybe not everyone wants coil tapping? It adds cost for those who don't want it. Plus there are a couple models with it. The Studio Deluxe I think there's an SG model The LP traditional pro The axcess Jimmy Page model etc A model with coil tapping in each price range.
zico10 Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Thanks for the heads up - probably models not available in the UK- and who can afford the Jimmy Page model ! .
bucketbot Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Thanks for the heads up - probably models not available in the UK- and who can afford the Jimmy Page model ! . My new Buckethead LP has it. :) Pull on the tone knob taps both pickups!
Wild_Rose Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 the Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe and Silverburst models also have coil tap
swleary Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I do believe the Les Paul traditional pro also comes with coil taps
