Manubro1 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 After lowering the action on my 61 reissue I am noticing some fret buzz on the first three or four frets of the top three strings. I am also noticing another weird "buzzing" sound on the open bottom three strings (especially the D string and a bit on the low E). I am not sure, but it seems like this buzzing sound is coming from the bridge region of my guitar. How can I get rid of the fret buzz and the other buzzing sound without having to raise the action (since I like the way it feels now)? Please be detailed. Thx.
Twiz Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Hmmm, (*edit) for the bridge buzzing, I dunno. I'm pretty sure that's normal. I think it's just the saddles vibrating in the bridge. -They kinda float in there. All my guitars make a similar sound from the bridge. I don't really worry about it because I can't hear it when I'm cranked through an amp. There might be a fix for it, but I'm not sure. Don't worry, some of the other members should be able to help. Cheers.
SGSpecialguy Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 take it to a pro, spend $35 and have it set up properly, could be that your neck needs some tweaking and if you dont know how to do it properly let someone who does do it for you
kevoT Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 If it's buzzing when hitting an open string, you should trying getting a pencil and a stanley knife and get some of the graphite under the string, this usually works for me if i have that problem. oh.... WITHOUT raising the strings? dang I can't help you there.
Rame Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Hello Manubro, I agree with SGspecialguy and recommend having a tech take a look at it. It may need to have the neck adjusted slightly and/or just a general set up. Typically that is best left to the professionals. Find a good tech in your area from recommendations of other players and it will be money well spent. Best of luck to you!
