just bought a Gibson Les Paul Studio 50s Tribute with P90 Pickups in Worn Gold Top, just waiting for it to come in stock now, I am officially a Gibson Les Paul owner!

Got to play an Ebony one last night - not a bad sounding axe! The P90s had a nice tone.

 

STILL thinking how I would want to 'fix it up" though (the black would be easy!).

Just got confirmation, from E.M. Shorts, on their getting 2 "Gold-Tops"....

one was already "sold," and the other is...Mine! ;>) They had the order in,

before the flood, so...that might(???) help, on getting it a bit sooner? But,

at least I know, I have one confirmed. They told me, also....the same thing,

I've been hearing here, and elsewhere, that the "Gold-Top" version is pre-selling,

like "hot cakes!" So, I'm glad I got my order in, when I did. I think it will be a nice

addition, to my small "gaggle," of Les Paul's.

 

I like the "Ebony" version, as well. But, Heck...they all look nice! ;>)

Hey CB congratulations on the confirmation!! ...lucky you !! they confirmed my order here to-day also ... first one in is mine!!can't quite give me a delivery date but they said they would work on it ? and let me know asap.. and your right about the hotcakes gibson said that there is a delay due to the flooding and that there is already waiting list for new orders.... I like the cherry the honey and the black is nice ... not to crazy about the look of the white though .

Wow. After reading your initial post I blasted EM an email (I'm in NH) to see if I could get one shipped. This was on the 19th. Long story short, I put a paypal deposit on a goldtop after a quick phone call with Lance:

 

"Received your down payment. Thanks! A Goldtop is reserved for you. I'll let you know when they arrive, but feel free to call anytime for a status update. -Lance"

 

So I guess I'm hoping I'm the one that was already "sold".

 

I usually deal locally with Daddy's Junky Music (20 stores in New England) but they are no longer a Gibbo dealer.

Well, thanks...and congrats to you all, as well! I have a feeling the "GT's will be a fond memory,

in the very near future, if they keep selling them, this fast. I too, am intrigued by the "Black" version,

as well. I have Honeyburst, and Cherryburst LP's already...as some of you know. I've always wanted

a "Gold-Top," especially with P-90's. Just couldn't really "justify" the 3-Grand or more, price tag. So,

this one, will be a Great alternative, I think! Really looking forward to it! ;>)

 

Jamdog...I think, it must have been YOU...that Cody was referring to, as he told me the other one

WAS sold, by Lance! LOL! That's wild!! Well, when we DO get them, we'll have some photos to

share, no doubt!

It's ordered from Yorkville Sound here CB ...the Gibson gods of the great white north! a Gold Top a few of the crew were on a tour of Gibson Nashville & Memphis on April25th and placed a few orders I hear ???some really sweet 335's have already arrived ... I have my fingers crossed ...lol

I wish everyone luck who put an order in @ amazon - I have a feeling many folks will not receive their orders. A small handful of the 120 goldtops are already accounted for on this forum alone. I would suspect the honeyburst and the ebony would be the next to sell out. They are beautiful guitars. If you really want one of those, I would encourage you to give E.M. a shout. All I had to do was put a small refundable deposit down - and be patient. Its a no-brainer @ that price.

Somebody mentioned, on my previous post, that they heard that only 120 would be made... not true. Just call the Gibson customer service line... I know from them there will far more than 120.

I emailed Gibson a few days ago regarding how many of these were being made:

 

"For information regarding availability, please contact an Authorized Gibson Dealer in your area. We are unable to check into stock status or availability of a particular model. For information, please have your authorized dealer contact their Gibson Sales Representative, as they can help. Thanks again!!"

 

Per my discussion with E.M., an authorized Gibson dealer not in my area - they could not confirm any specific # of these that would be made. However, a quick google has this on Anderton's UK site:

 

"There will only be 120 of each colour of these Limited Edition Les Paul Studios. Each of the 50s tribute guitars comes in a worn finish with P90 pickups, chambered body, 50s profile rounded neck and an orange-drop capacitor in the tone circuit."

 

Either way, time will tell and I wish everyone the best.

And..a "Gold Top," as well. But, time will tell. I think these will be great guitars, and

will sell quite well, for them. Maybe that will be incentive, to either extend the regular

if its a goldtop/darkback with the option for humbuckers or p-90's I would most definitely buy one...............or two
