BeaMeUpScty Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Hi, I am looking to buy a used LP Studio and came across this guitar: Does this look like a legitimate Gibson LP Sudio? I went out to both Gibson's website and Musician's Friend website and could not find this color offered for the Studio version. Also, he is asking $900 for it and claims that he just bought it a few months ago (it was manufactured Mar 29, 2010).
BigKahune Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Thats a Silverburst Studio. Find it here - http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Les-Paul-Studio-Silverburst-Electric-Guitar?sku=582657 A kickass Studio because the Silverburst is kind of a special edition - it's got an ebony fretboard and coil taps. I've only seen a couple other ones with the thin black edge on the burst, which I really like. (Usually the black edge is a little thicker covering a bit more of the belly/lower-bout) From the two little pics, it looks legit. $900 is pretty damn good if it's mint.
eljay Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 +1 and +1 here is the link from guitar center: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Les-Paul-Studio-Silverburst-Electric-Guitar-105456289-i1463121.gc
cookieman15061 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 The new studio deluxe models are great guitars. I got the vintage sunburst and it sounds as good as it looks. The necks are thin 60s style necks so if your preference is a thicker les paul neck you may be disappointed. The coil tap is a nice plus.
chase1410 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 i can second the studio deluxe..absolutey wonderful guitar[biggrin] ..It seems like everyone is going for the Vintage Sunburst...Yours looks really sexy cookieman ... hmm cant seem to get a good pic of mine...heres a link if anyone is interested..im going to get some really good quality pics of my whole rig soon http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1055547&l=3f33329e38&id=1471628963
johnnyguitar7 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 That is a great guitar, I have the same one. I love it. $900 is a good price if it is in great condition.

So, when you say that it has a thinner neck, is it similar to the SG? I have been told one of the primary difference in the SG Standard and the LP Studio is that the neck is much thicker on the LP Studio.
cookieman15061 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 It would be a guess on my part because I haven't played an SG in 25 years but it is thinner than my goldtop lp but not as thin as my strat.
cookieman15061 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Dammit Cookie! Sorry Jantha I should have put up a warning before I posted.
Wild_Rose Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I have it and i LOVE it! Here is the Official Gibson page Gibson USA Les Paul Studio Silverburst
