LarryUK Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 When I was young. I bought my first les Paul. A sunburst custom. Brand new. £500. It would have been about 1974. When I was 16 (and working). Anyhow. I remember it having wire along the front of the bridge to hold the screws. I haven't seen a bridge like this on any for sale. Why is this? If only I still had it!
LarryUK Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Thanks. It's surprising what you forget over the years. I've not forgotten how much I hated selling it.
deepblue Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Some guys dont like the wire. I have never had a problem with it buzzing. Its there in case a string breaks. Youd lose the saddle if the wire wasnt holding it in place.
fender63lp68 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Need some help from all the gurus out there. I have with me a 1968/1969 LP Custom that I intend to restore and play . It came to me body and neck totally strip to the wood and I was told it was like that since the mid 80s. I am looking for a tail piece replacement and contemplating between a conventional and a light weight. Which would give a better sounding LP? Would appreciate some input from all the season LP players out there.
