tepidy Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Anybody remember back in the 70's when the trend was to swap out your LP bridge pickup for a Dimarzio Super Distortion pickup. Have to admit they had a great sound and tone to them.
deepblue Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I believe Ace Frehley started that trend. Thats what he used back in the day. I recall Larry Dimarzio talking about this very subject a while ago.
duane v Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I have a 79 SuperD in my SG and it has a nice bitey tone. I also have one in my 82 Charvel
guitarworld Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Hi forum, On the subject of Dimarzio pickup's you might care to check out this guitar at this link: http://www.lagguitars.co.uk/productdetails.aspx?GUID=d8b3cccd-a6ca-4868-930e-ed18708a70bb Has anyone heard of these before? They look pretty good guitars, fitted with Dimarzio pickups.
chase1410 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 No...but the guitars look sweet...looks like great quality too, but i couldnt find any prices..They dont sell in America:-k
guitarworld Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 That particular model sells for £1799 in the UK. I'm looking into it very seriously, it does have a great spec for the money. They are handmade in France by a luthier called Michel Lag.
dem00n Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Tom Sholtz used super distortions i think... Alot of guitarists use them. Alot

pippy Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I fitted a pair of DiMarzio 'Dual Sound's in my very first guitar - a copy (well, kinda...) of a LP gold-top - in 1976. They cost more than the guitar... The D-S's were the same as the S-D's with a mini-toggle coil-tap. I still have it (and them). Yes; I do know the neck p-up ring is broken, thanks. As it's an original M69(*) I'll keep it. * OK. That was a lie. truetone6; What do the two screws just north of the bridge do? :-
