Is there anyone out there willing to part with there Gibson J-185 EC ROSEWOOD?? My price range is under 1,800 for one in decent condition! It's been 3 months since I last saw one on Ebay:-({|= and I'm getting ready shoot myself in the foot and buy one Brand New for 3.2 millions dollars haha! Of course that's when they'll start popping up like mushrooms on Ebay, I'm so whipped!!! -Jon

Yeah, I noticed they don't come up quite that often any more. I've got a Rosewood L-4A (same body, lesser bling) that I want to turn around into a maple J-185. I plan on selling it, but I need to line up a replacement first.

Good luck.

Thanks but I'm set on finding a Rosey;) Those are beautiful pictures of your maple on Ebay!

Ha ha . . . it's not mine! It's just one I saw and remembered that someone here on the forum was looking for one.

I can't help you as I won't sell mine but I understand why you want one. The J185 Rosewood is a great guitar - the best acoustic I have ever owned!

I have a 2005 Gibson L-4A EC Rosewood and a 2006 Gibson J-185 EC Rosewood and honestly, I preferred the L-4A by a long shot. The J-185 had great highs, but the mids and lows were very weak. The L-4A has decent highs and lows, but really shines in the mids. Most of the differences between the two are cosmetic with the exception of the rosewood fingerboard on the L-4A versus the ebony fingerboard on the J-185. I think the rosewood fingerboard added warmth. I also have a J-200 Custom with rosewood back and sides. It has an ebony fingerboard that adds sparkle to the highs, but I believe that the sheer volume of the guitar brings out the lows and mids, so it works out alright.
