smolder Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Hi, I am trying to service an old 66 lancer (GA-35 rvt) that I just got. I replaced the power cord with a three prong putting the black and white leads where the previous card was... and connected the green to the transformer mounting bolt. I also removed the .022 'death cap' to ground... and I am blowing fuses when the switch goes to on. I would also like to take out the polarity reverse. The switch (SW78A) is an off | standby | on | on. Does anyone know of a wiring diagram for this switch or a simple method to accomplish this? I can not seem to figure it out with just the schematic. Thanks.
Two15s Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Hi smolder. I think your lancer uses the same mains switching arrangement as the Mercury among others. For a description and drawing of what goes on inside the switch check out http://backfromthesixties.co.uk/Gibson_Mercury_II.aspx If you've taken out the .022 cap the polarity switch won't do anything anyway and you can leave it as it is.
smolder Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 Thank you sir - at first glance it looks like that diagram will be very helpful. I will know for sure when I get home this evening.
