What were your first two electric guitars?

Hey Mojo one of my fav axes was an 87 Kramer Pacer Deluxe. Metallic red with rosewood fb and black hardware/floyd rose trem. Man I could make that thing wail. Regret ever selling it.

Here I am putting it to good use back in the day.

Someone else asked me a long time ago for a pic of mine so here it is. It is inactive cuz I want to get the exact neck to replace the one on it now. I have broken it 3x. Broke the orginal 2x' date=' then a 3rd replacement. The neck on there now is replacement #2.

My very first guitar was a white Vantage Flying V, I traded my Trumpet for it at a local music store.

As I got better at guitar I was ready to step up and purchased a used Floyd Rose Signature Kramer, a 1983 model

if I recall correctly, it was black.

I hated the Floyd Rose trem that was on it, it was the old original one where you had to either string it backwards or snip the ball ends off your strings.

So I traded it and the vantage V in at a pawn shop for a mint 1980 Gibson Flying V and that was my only guitar for a long time.

I wish I had pictures of that guitar but my only camera was a Polaroid instant camera and those pictures are long gone.

To me, that Gibson V was my first "real" guitar and I wish I still had it.

Thanks' date=' bluesguitar65...

Well, yeah...I've had several offers. One for 30 Grand, about 10 years ago. I smiled, and

very politely, declined. He then said: "Well, how much DO you want?!" But, because it was

a gift, from my Mother (who's gone now), and was purchased 18 months, after my father

died, and while she was working 2 jobs, and going to night school, never mind that it's

my first ever (electric) guitar...it's simply Not For Sale! As much as I LOVE ALL my other guitars,

this one, is "priceless," to Me! ;>)

I'm sure you have fond memories with that guitar. Its certainly a priceless family heirloom.

Thanks, bluesguitar65....It's been a good friend, all these years! Most of it's "value" to me, is sentimental...I admit...and, way beyond what it's "worth," monetarily. :>)

I'm not a Fender guy' date=' but that strat is quite the looker and is in great shape..... I always appreciate a well kept lady[cool']

Thanks, Duane....I try! I don't play it "out" much, in bars or clubs...too "valuable" to me, to risk that.

But, I do play it, at home, quite often. The pickups have a nice aged "growl" to them,

that my newer Strat's don't quite have...yet, anyway. It's weird, when I play my

maple fingerboard Strat, I think...Yeah, this is it!! Then, I pick up the '64 and that rosewood

board, is SO nice! And a bit "warmer" tone, too....WHO can choose?! LOL!

POS Squier Strat starter pack

It did it's job Fred. It either turned you on to this great instrument and making music or if kept you going until you could improve your equipment. I think it's cool that companies like Fender make starter "kits" to help folks who can't throw down $1000 or more for a top line "starter" instrument. Good for you. Glad you're still rockin man! [cool]

i started it all off with a starter pack too! Got a squier standard stratocaster and a small fender amp.

then i took my trip to florida and brought a Gibson SG Standard in ebony and that is my current guitar along with a marshall dsl50 head and 1936 cab.

However within the next year or so i will be adding a new guitar to my rather small collection, struggling to decide what i want though been looking at:

Gibson Les Paul Custom

Fender Stratocaster Custom Deluxe

Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Strat

Gibson Les Paul Standard...

going down to a big guitar store in a few weeks to try them all out hopefully!

This'll sound odd, but...

Not counting the Rick I used in the first rock band, or the Harmony F hole I converted to an electric 7 string for the 2nd rock band (doubled G like on a 12), I really can't remember what came next. There was a flood of 'em in the early 70s and I was playing swap this and that like crazy. Literally crazy. The first ones I decided as keepers were the EA Ovations, one steel, one nylon, from the mid '70s. They were among the first piezo EAs and I used the steel in a country band before I got a board that I can't even remember which.

16th Birthday present:

A heavily-used 1982 USA made Kramer Pacer Series with the original Schaller in the bridge and a replacement Barden in the neck. Floyd Rose trem. It was a very high-quality guitar, but taught me to HATE anything with a Floyd Rose...such a pain to change the strings AND...well, whenever I tried to use the damn thing, I quickly became discouraged and learned I would NEVER be EVH...

They are great for that purpose. For 200 bucks' date=' I had everything I needed, and got me started. The super high action makes you decent on a good neck too [crying

I had a Squier pack, which I still own and use, and then my Casino.

I don't know what packs other people have, but my Strat is quite nice. I sold the Fender, I still have the Squier. My biggest issue with it is that the selector switch tip is too pointy.

I'm working on a track right now that I decided I'd use the Strat on... I haven't recorded anything but my J-45 and Casino in a while.
