Silverbursted
Memorial Day, which falls on the last Monday of May, commemorates the men and women who died while serving in the American military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer. I would like to extend a heart felt thanks and appreciation to those who have served and to those families who have sacrificed in service to our great nation. At 3:00 PM, where ever you are, please observe a minute of silence in remembrance of our fallen soldiers. Then get the burgers and chickens ready for the grill, because summer has begun. Notes_Norton
While I don't always agree with what my government asks them to do, I have the utmost respect for those who serve. Thank you all. Notes ?
