AndreaHetfield
Hello! I'm new here in this forum, but I'm an old fan of Gibson's instruments. Today, finally, my new Gibson Les Paul Goldtop Darkback arrived from Bologna, but, because i bought it on the internet, I'm not sure if is an original one. I'm going to add a photo of the top of the guitar (back and front) and the body; would you please tell me if the guitar is gibson instrument for real? Top: (front) http://img202.imageshack.us/i/dscn1471t.jpg/ (back) http://img210.imageshack.us/i/dscn1479m.jpg/ Body: http://img231.imageshack.us/i/dscn1470.jpg/ Serial number: 017160677 I'm so sorry for the bad English, but I'm italian

AndreaHetfield
I didn't find it on e-bay or something, a friend gave me this man's contact because he had bought another guitar from him. I paid 450 € for this guitar, is that possible? I'm going to add some more photos as soon as possible. Is it possible to check is the serial number is true? Thank's for the help! jmjohnson
Anything's possible... I just have to wonder - why ask if it is real or fake AFTER you bought it?

BigKahune
From what I can see there are 5 red flags - 1. TRC and screws 2. The switch 3. The neck tone knob should be a bit below the end post screw 4. The pup rings are too dark (unless it's the flash/lighting) 5. The color (unless it's the flash/lighting) Might be okay, the serial is legit, but that doesn't mean the guitar is legit. Post better pics. I've got those doubts. Here's your pics -

deepblue
This is what the serial number indicates... Your guitar was made at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA June 20th, 2006 Production Number: 377 doesnt mean its true.
Dub-T-123
Looks fake. Sounds like whoever sold you that is full of bologna.

rockstar232007
That's a fake! Note: Gibson Gold Tops DO NOT have "sparkle" finishes! Also note the thickness and color of the "LP" script on the headstock. When will people learn? Just look at ONE picture of a real Gibson LP, then you should know how to tell the difference! guitar4choice
Last but not least the price was too low for a genuine gibson les paul gold top. Next time think about that as well.

pippy
This is sad. Yes; but the buyer has the contact details of the seller. Therefore they will be able to get a full refund as the seller was passing off fake goods. It should turn out all right in the end.

I can't image what it would feel like to get the Les Paul you have always wanted just to find out it's a fake. That's why we should do our homework before making the purchase.
