GUITAR STRINGS, pure nickel or nickel plated steel ?

Just bought a gibson sg 3 heritage cherry with five way chicken head knob...

The '57' pickups are bright, and was wondering after reading in guitar player, if the pure nickel strings would tame it down?

Also , was wondering if i put the vintage bumblebee caps in if that would make it less bright...

Thanks , i know this is the les paul forum, and i do have a vm les paul, but rather ask here........

Interesting.

I used pure nickel strings back when I played fenders but I have never used nickel on my gibsons. Guess I will try it. The burstbucker pro's do seem really bright and I would like to see it be a little more mellow.
