Buc McMaster
Anyone know what pickup was put in the CJ-165 Rosewood? The element under the saddle looks like some kind of braid and there's just a single volume pot at the edge of the soundhole. I know the newer -EC models have the Fishman Aura system in them.........this does not appear to be that. This particular model is discontinued with no current info on the Gibson site. Any help? ksdaddy
No idea. Mine has the same thing. I've never used it other than to just check it out. Sounded fine I guess.
bkharmony
Probably an LR Baggs Element. That's what's in my 08 J-200 and my 07 J-45. http://www.lrbaggs.com/EAS.htm

I had the UST pup removed from my CJ and a K&K Pure Western Mini installed. I am just not a fan of the UST. I believe from my nearly non-existent memory cells that that was what came out of my CJ. I will double check tonight when I get home and verify. It wasn't bad....but I do like the K&K and I bought the K&K pre-amp....so I wanted all my guitars to match and be able to just plug into the K&K pre-amp and not have to think about it or shuffle cables or have multiple pre-amps for different guitars. I have to say I think there was a little improvement in acoustic sound with out that braided pick up between the saddle and soundboard of the guitar.
