There are two types of silverbursts - Custom Shop (CS) and Gibson USA. I LOVE the CS bursts because they have a teardrop shape...you can definetely see it here. That middle pickup effectively takes away the tip of the teardrop. 2. The new volume/tone knobs suck. Look at mine and then look at the 3-pup model. Thunder, that's how silverbursts are in the back...silverburst :) Actually, Gibson made some silverbursts in 2004 (I think) where the back of the body/neck was black...I'm glad the back of mine has the burst...it's a nice finishing touch. I'm sure Gibson made a few other colours like this, where the colour theme extends beyond the top...but the silverburst is the only one I've seen this way. Don't know the nitty gritty details other than that. The one being sold by the MFers looks pretty cool I'll admit! Yeah Tim, That middle pickup is a complete pain in the ***. I spent most of my time between the CS Black Beauty and the SG 61 RI. Tough decision, but I definitely feel a case of G.A.S. building. Sorry I missed you, we were there until around 1:00 or so.
