Rui Barata
Hello my friends I'm sorry if this is not the best place to post this....This is not specifically a question about a Gibson guitar, but I think it can be applied to one. I have an old Hondo guitar which I would like to recover. It was my first musical instrument and I got it from my parents 30 years ago as a reward for my efforts in school. It doesn't need any specially difficult repair, just to refret, put new tuning pegs and a general set-up. How much do you think it will costs? How much would it cost for a Gibson? Thanks
Chiseen
http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-technical/52932-how-much-should-refretting-cost.html I googled it.
L5Larry
The costs for such work on a Hondo would FAR exceed the value of the guitar.
RRIDER
I checked into the cost of a refret, and was quoated $20 per fret on a guitar with a bound neck.
Yew
You could get the frets ground down so they are level.. that could be cheaper If the tuning pegs arent feeling right, it could actually be just in need of a new nut, or a bit of oil in the mechanisim then a general setup and polish wont be too expensive

Maybe some can be grounded but not all. About the tunning pegs...wel, the problem is that some of them are missing...I got a hole in the headstock instead of a tunning peg. Yew
Well if you get Tuning pegs with a similar mounting mechinisim to the original ones,, you should jsut be able to screw them in (also you could probs end up with better pegs than on the original guitar) And could we have some pictures of this guitar, always helps round here
Rewddawg1
Might be just as well to let Blackie do a number on the guitar. lol
