Dub-T-123
I was wondering what value pots Gibson used in guitars equipped with p90s from the '50s and '60s. Do they use the same 500k pots as on models with humbuckers or a lower value pot for the single coils? Thanks
Riffster
I'd say 500k. a lot of those guitars have been cannibalized for other more "collectable" Gibsons.
pohatu771
That's an interesting question... 250k or 300k are standard on P-90s now, but prior to 1957, Gibson was only using one kind of pickup, for the most part. From what I've read, the earlier Gibson electrics were using 250k and 500k, and it's not clear if they were consistent or not. Different examples of one model can be found with different electronics. Robin Nahum
Brosnac's Guitar Electronics for Musicians http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Electronics-Musicians-Reference/dp/0711902321/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1277425644&sr=8-1 includes a section on tone circuits for a wide variety of Gibsons as well as other brands. The P90 circuits are identical to the humbucker circuits - 4 x 500K, 2 x .022uf. RN
