gtrplayr1976 Posted July 10, 2010 Share Posted July 10, 2010 Ok...so i have what I thought was a Heritage Series standard 80. Just some questions about what is original. I know some isn't original, but there are some things that aren't consistant with others. For instance, mine has an ABR1 bridge,and others I've seen have the Nashville bridge. The pickups are dated Feb 1980, and from my understanding Shaw didn't make them until mid 1980. Looks like someone put Schallers on it , but nickel Grovers were reinstalled. The truss rod cover is blank,and the jack plate is creme instead of metal. It does have the second serial #, and date code is 1980. any thoughts ? ETA: Pickup (and pot) dates usually should run a bit earlier than assembly of any instrument or pedal etc., as they pull parts from stock to build, so it seems like the pups date is consistent. Perhaps it's the grain patterns in that sweet maple top that's playing tricks on my eyes? Perhaps it's a deeper carve? Oh, and thanks for posting the great pictures of the top of the guitar. It answered a question that I had regarding the orientation of the neck pickup bezel/ring. I had a few 70s LPs ,and the tops then didn't seem to be dished . I'm not sure when they started dishing them again...maybe 1980. I think it's that lip before the arch that makes it look that way. [/quote'] Yes it is...I was fortunate to find one with a top like this, and it sounds awesome. I'm starting to get some encouraging info on the pups too.
