how to identify a '61 reissue

Hi Everybody.

I have a Gibson SG, serial number 92975634 (made in 1995, manufactured October 24th, in Nashville, 134th guitar made that day). I believe this guitar is a '61 reissue. It has a small pick guard and '57 humbuckers, for example. How do I know for sure whether it's a '61 reuissue, or not? Thanks.

Your guitar is a 61 reissue, there's no doubt about it. The small pickguard and 57 classic humbuckers should tell you it's a 61 reissue. The sg standards today have larger pickguards and 490R and 498T humbuckers. Also, the neck joint will be at the 21st or 22nd fret. (EDIT: it is the 22nd fret). Gibson SG Standards' neck joint is at the 19th fret.

Oh and welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the responses. Yes' date=' it definitely has full access to the 22nd fret, so it's gotta be the '61 reissue.[/quote']

All sgs have full access to the 22 fret, just some models join then neck and body at a different spot.
