Recommended Posts

I seem to have come across a Gibson 800-G guitar amp/Head/Preamp/Whatever..

It's 25 Watts.

Serial No: A1642

Voltage: 117

Hz: 60

umm, i'm not exactly sure what it is..

if somebody could give me some info, I'd be more than appreciative.

There are some pictures posted via image hosting that it won't let me copy..

It's under the topic Gibson 800-G in the introduce yourself forum..

Get at me, asap.. Please

I have had one of these since the 70's. It is a guitar preamp. For it's day, it wasn't a bad transistor preamp. A little brittle sounding. I used to use mine in a dual amp setup with the Gibson 880-G as my clean channel and a '79 Marshall Mark II Lead for a dirty channel.

I have an LP-12 from the same era, the amp is different but the concept is the same. A preamp and a powered speaker enclosure that you can add as many as you could afford at the time, (they were quite expensive!)

This is the low impedance version for the Low Impedance Les Pauls, but they also made the 800-G for guitar & the 800-B for bass, with a couple different powered speaker enclosures.

Ive had one of these for over 20 years.  I use it as a bass amp.  It has 2x 15" speakers.  The speaker part has 800-2 on it.  Its a great bass amp, gigged with it for years.

I came close to buying one of these heads before I bought the LP-12. I would like to try one with LP-2 (Powered bottom). I’m sure all of these different variations are interchangeable. I have used the LP-1 head with a Gibson Plus 50 with good results. It is much easier to move!
