What I can definitely tell you is that, if you can do it, it's going to look a little weird because the dog ear pickup has metal flanges that line up with the cover which allows both pieces to be screwed directly into the body of the guitar. You're better off just buying a proper cover; they're pretty cheap. PS: Change your sig; you have so many of those characters in there that it makes the board scroll too far left/right.
