The binding is painted on but you would never know it, looks 100% real even up close... We discussed putting a real binding on it but as the neck was attached to the body it would have been very difficult to do the rooting. I'll put some detail up of the painted binding when I get a chance.

 

The final finish is indeed nitro... As a matter of fact it still has that sticky neck feel to it which I'm hoping will go away as the finish cures...

Thanks for all the kind words guys... I was worried I was going to be too blingy but thank god it's not. When you see it, it almost looks like a regular gold top but then you notice there is something else going on...

Curious Dave, did you have a set price you thought it would cost to get the look you wanted and did you go over budget.
