Please I am on my knees GIBSON!!! I want a robot guitar and ready to buy one. Have wanted one since they came out. Heck I even have the tronics stuff on a Stratocaster. BUT make one in a decent color. No not metallic or blue burst and GREEN??? Come on please a sunburst, heck even black, white, natural I don't care but get away from that freakin metal look.

Where can you get the Tronics for a Gibson? I was able to purchase the Fender one in Germany but from what I understand Gibson owns the rights and the Gibson fitted Tronics are not for sale at the moment. Please correct me if I am wrong because I will buy one right now.

been there done that. Even when they had the device for the Gibson they would not sell it. They were in discussion with Gibson when they developed them. The only reason they have it for Fender is Fender wouldn't bite. They were developing their own version with Roland which turned out to be awful. I have seen sunburst Robot Guitars but they were attached to some pretty high profile guitarist.

Can't agree more...The new purple finish looks like an optional finish on a Daisy Rock. Yuk O:)

...hate those hybrid cars... they look like they came out of a tim burton movie.

Talking robot guitars... i think i like the purple one over the blue sparkle, and think i asked the same question before, why didnt they make them in a more "standard" color... i know its a matter of personal taste, but i really wouldnt buy a blueburst guitar, and the purple one i would buy only if it was at half the price it is.

I can undestand why gibson would make such finishes for this "hi tech" guitar... they wanted it to look modern, futuristic even... so they wasnt gonna have a sunburst finish...

Please Gibson a silvertop robot! hey a goldop robot would be perfect!

Oh, and MATCHING KNOBS!

Not really Ibis....

All my other guitars I tune myself but its nice to have one that's always in tune or that you can use as a pitch reference to see if your other guitars are in tune. OK... So i don't have perect pitch and I don't have a tuner handy or a pitch pipe. Bingo, I'm in tune and ready to practice...

I must stress to you guys that besides the self tuning thing, my Robot is the best sounding guitar I have.... Even unplugged it just rings out full rich tone. It also feels better than my other guitars... When I pick up the Robot to practice its such a joy!!! I usually don't use it to practice though because my other guitars are more challenging and make me work harder.

About the color... Maybe no everyones cup of tee but I was lucky and got one the has a real deep blue that goes into the silver burst beautifully. It seems to change color with the time of day or lighting you are in. People always comment on how good looking it is. Would I like a heritage tobacco burst instead... maybe... But I'm very happy with this unique color.

Are robots for people who can't be bothered to tune their guitars themselves? Gibson Laz-e Paul?

Honestly' date=' can anyone explain the attraction?[/quote']

I just noticed the Godess guitars (sg and paul-a) are blue sliver bursted as well... arent they like... chick guitars?

So taking on acount Ibis comment, and the fact that the other ones comming in that finish... maybe robots are chick guitars... as men have performed for ages without the need of a computarized futuristic self tunning guitar.

please any girls in the forum dont hate me, im just kidding...

hey dave i was just kidding... anyway being a studio owner (and recording enginer) i think the les paul robot place is in a studio, you couldnt believe how many asswhipes come with their guitars completely out of tune, and refuse to tune it with an electronic tuner, they preffer to tune it by ear and no, they dont have perfect pitch...

so i think the robot is a very useful and helpful tool for the studio, one of the best innovations for guitar when you are recording as it saves time and leaves no chance for error in tunning, the price being the only downsize to it.

as you noted, your robot (for what i have seen in your pics) has more blue to it... i think a complet blue sparkle robot would be very very nice, really futuristic looks!

(i love blue sparkle guitars)

I don't think this is an LP I would own myself, but for you gigging artists it kind of makes sense. Mr. elvendio has one of these, who says it takes only a few seconds to change a tune. So if you have one guitar set up for standard tuning and another one set up for a drop D or something else, you won't have to change guitars during a set, just twist a knob. Just my two cents worth.

OK, without trying not to offend anyone on this board, you do realize that the guitar can be tuned to other tunings? Hate to inform ya'll but there is more to life than standard tuning. I get this same response any time anyone hears I want one of these guitars. I play in open tuning FAR FAR more than I do in standard. So this means at any given time I may have 4 to 7 guitars with me. To me if you have not explored this by now the "laz-e-Paul" would be you. Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Black Crowes, Georgia Satellites, Tom Petty, The Byrds, I could go on and on. So please, get educated and stop this lazy crap.

No offence taken, I did ask for it!

Well, I play in a '70s Classic Rock covers band and often play in open E and open G during our sets. I also love playing slide. Guess I've got pretty quick at retuning, with all the practice and what not and haven't lost an audience yet! I often take 3 guitars to a gig and try to stagger the songs in the sets so that one guitar is pre-tuned accordingly beforehand or during the break. I also use Tremol-no trem-lock gadjets to aid retuning in my PRS and Strat. Well worth a look.

I'd rather do that than play a guitar thats loaded with enough computer power to go to the moon. If it breaks down, its gonna be a big bill. That's my main concern. My R7 GT will still be playing at the apocalypse, I reckon.

The Fender VG Strat worries me even more. It doesn't retune, but outputs different notes to the ones you've played. That ain't natural. I can almost forgive a guitar for changing its tone unnaturally (digitally), as my mate squeezes some really good tones from his Variax at his gigs but would still rather take a Strat for the songs that require that sound. Its more fun, at least I find it so. I'd take even more guitars if there was space in the van! At gigs where space is limited I take my PRS. It covers all tonal territories, but is an approximation of the great tones that a Strat and LP can give.

Back to the LP Robot. I agree with you that it looks less than appealing. Not only the colour, but it looks cheap, being based on a studio. When Gibson offers robotic Standards and Customs it'll be a good day, not for the wallet though!

I guess I'm a bit reluctant to trust new technology, until I'm certain it doesn't have a degree of built-in redundancy. I'm fascinated by the Line 6 Bognor Spider Valve 2x12 modelling amp. It would make my life very easy during our gigs but for now I'll stick to my pedal board and Bassman Ltd Reissue. At least until they've been out for 5 years or so and are still working!

I'm glad that there are those, such as yourself, that adopt new technology as soon as it's released. I'm just happy to be a luddite and not to be a long-term beta-tester!

Wood and steel for me and my music. Silica can wait a while.

Good luck!

The robot guitars are an amazing advancement. I think your own ears can only hear like 1 cent, and tuners and the robot could actually hear upto 3 cents or something like that. A machine or mechanical device's is far more precise, in standard or alternate tunings

Hey Ibis, Just a comment on what you said about the guitar being cheap because its based on a LP Studio... You are right, based on a studio but it also comes with... ebony fretboard, fully bound headstock, ABR-1 bridge with rollers instead of saddles, silver alloy medium jumbo frets (80 nickel 20 silver), Mahogany body with maple top, 490r and 498T pick ups. This is not a cheap guitar.... You guys should really try playing one of these, you will be surprised! I have said many times here that my Robot is by far my best sounding guitar.
