You should find some pictures with guitars in them....

Oh... there were?

Sorry man, you're on your own here. I like the one you have, and like all the ones you posted. I always did like my girls a little on the trashy side.

Drove Mom crazy.

I don't think any of them are appropriate for this forum.

I don't think that it is appropriate for people to make political or religious statements or references to violence in their signatures or avatars but all kinds of people do it. Most of us consider this art. I am not referring to you or your sig. but I am expanding on your statement. There are no inferences to sexual activities in the photos. Alot of people consider this art. I respect your opinion TommyK. We all have opinions and all are welcome.

I picked seven.

Why' date=' because other than the color of her eyes she looks just like my wife.[/quote']

You are a fortunate man California! That's been where I've been leaning for sometime and the general consensus is verifying that pic.

Just choose one of the classier ones. The spread-eagle skank is inappropriate, and a couple of those girls just look slutty. The girl with her cha-cha covered by a Fender neck is a little over the top, too. The pretty girl with the Les Paul sitting to her right is okay, but as I stated before, there is nothing sexier that a fully clothed woman that can actually play a guitar...... or the pick of that dude with the guns and guitar hero.

For some reason, I can't see pictures of any of the choices, but I have always liked your current avatar, so I'll vote for the current one.

Edit: Pictures came through before I voted, so I voted for #7. But now the pictures are gone again... go figure...:-

They should be there now. You may have been looking while I changed a photo.

Allison Robertson, guitarist for the Donnas.... Never heard of the band or the lady player; I'll take the word that she's skilled and talented. She's cute and the pix wouldn't be considered risque in most cultures likely to read this forum.

Our lady guitar players have a tough time at it sometimes; tougher than it is for us guys, especially if they want to be taken seriously as musicians in the "pop" field. I think these pix make it harder for a female coming to this forum, or for a lotta guys as well, to think girls can be given respect as players. That's not right to me because, appreciative as I might be of many assets of the feminine, one is what they can bring to music as people of a different voice than the male.

Bottom line is that I have nothing whatsoever against ladies attired - or not attired - when depicted at appropriate times and places. Porn is appropriate at "legal" porn sites, risque at risque sites... and a guitar forum with rock emphasis is kinda a borderline since part of rock definitely is emphasis of sexuality.

Yet, I think this ain't the place. There are plenty of other places for such photos and stuff that's far racier if that's one's inclination. But even a lotta rock posters are probably a bit much, even for here.

Naaah, it ain't my age. On the other hand, I'll never forget a souvenir stand in the Netherlands where my U.S. sensibilities were somewhat shocked 35 years ago by a set of porn films with very explicit labels sitting on low shelves next to the kiddie coloring books. Selling such films is fine by me - but where little kids see it? Not my culture.

My take is this: If there's a question of offense on a general cultural level, as opposed to an individual level, leave it. Given this forum is likely read by folks of many cultures... Leave it off. An international and multicultural guitar forum may not be the place.

Hey, there are songs I'd sing in some company but not in other. Even something like "the ballad of sam'l hall" has... a creepiness and language for adult audiences; ditto other stuff I've sung...

Well I haven't seen any David Allen Coe vids posted at least. As for female guitarists Orianthi has some chops.

My response had none of the motivations you 'expanded' upon. As this form is frequented by youngsters, and as there is no parental warning to those who enter, I don't find them appropriate. I see these thread as a blatant attempt to post gratuitous, provocative, soft porn.

This is the definition of "soft porn" from the Collins Dictionary:

Soft porn is pornography that shows or describes sex, but not very violent or unpleasant sex, or not in a very detailed way.

None of these photos fit that description. As a matter of fact I see more lewdness at the local beach than is depicted here in these photos. They are no more revealing than magazine covers at the local Wal-Mart. If you see the human body as something "dirty" well I don't know what to say without taking the risk of offending you. I was tought as a youngster by my parents that the human body is a beautiful thing. All the photos here are available from Guitar World magazine and the magazine is available to people of all ages.

BTW My respnse WAS an expansion of your statement on what is appropriate or not in this forum. You know there is a real double standard that exists when a man can be shown with his shirt off and show his nipples and if a woman does it, it's considered taboo. Quite frankly I think this standard was drummed by men who were either not breast fead or cannot control their erections or sexual urges. Women in in Brazil and alot of other countries walk around topless and there are no negative effects in those countries that I am aware of.
